One of our favorite activities to do in the Fall is to go pick apples on an Orchard. I grew up picking and eating Organic fruit from trees so having the opportunity to go pick fruit is always fun for us.

There are usually so many different types of apples to choose from on the fields. The kids usually enjoy picking and eating them from the trees.

We didn’t get much cooking apples this time neither did we get sour apples for making an apple pie either ๐Ÿ™ but we did pick 3 or 4 different kinds to take home. Because we didn’t get much cooking apples, we ended up eating most of them fresh (we still have a few left). I did however wanted to use a few in cooking so I made this delicious baked apples.

It’s so easy to make and so healthy too! The apples are tender and at first, I was not sure if I’d enjoy apples cooked like this but it truly amazed me! So delicious!! Think oat topping with 100% Pure Maple syrup and a sprinkling of cinnamon! There is no additional added sugar as I wanted to make it healthier. I mean, just look at it, doesn’t it look delish?!!

  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg

  • Wash and cut off the tops of apples.
  • Use a spoon, fork, or apple coring tool to scoop out about 2 inches of apples.
  • Divide and spoon oat mixture into apples.
  • Bake 30-35 minutes. Apples should be bubbly and tend when gently poked with a fork.
  • If desired, add a dallop of butter over each apple and place them back in the oven about 2 minutes or until the butter melts (careful not to let the oats burn).
  • Remove from oven.
  • Serve warm.
  • Add a scoop of ice-cream, an extra drizzle of Maple syrup and a sprinkling of cinnamon for an even tastier treat.
