Be Encouraged and Serve Faithfully

Thanks for Sharing!

Do you sometimes feel like just quitting and you don’t know what you want to quit on? Well, let me tell you, I do. In fact, I had one of those moments last night. Especially, when I look around and I see a house full of chores, kids to take care of, husband whose needs I cannot forget, etc. and it seems like there is not enough time in the day to accomplish all. Especially on the weekends. I could have a clean, sane looking house all week, but somehow, things get out of hand on the weekends. Moreover, the time I really get for myself (not to be selfish but just to relax and do something I like, even if it is for 5 minutes) is usually late at nights when everyone is in bed. Well, that is no fun, because I want to go to bed, too. That is when the emotions build up and all I want to do or sometimes do, is cry (I know, big baby).

Anyway, if are a homemaker and you feel this way, I just want to take a moment to encourage you not to quit. That is the ministry God has placed you in. Yes, it is a ministry (see Proverbs 31 and Titus 2:4 -5). Take a deep breath and maybe come up with a plan to get it all done. Use baby steps. As one of my former pastors back in college used to say, “you eat an elephant one bite at a time!”

About a month ago, I had another one of those moments where I was really backed up on chores and just did not want to attack it. Our church is bringing in a new Pastor in a few weeks. His family came to our church last month so we could get acquainted with them. His wife taught a Sunday school lesson for the ladies. Her topic was on being faithful. It was the right topic for me at the right time. She encouraged us to be faithful when the going gets rough with our responsibilities. She encouraged us to be faithful even when we do not feel to prepare dinner or do other house chores. She encouraged us to be faithful as wives and moms. Since then, every time I feel I just cannot do it all, my mind goes back to her lesson, I encourage myself by saying “be faithful”, and I keep going.

Yesterday morning in our service, the Pastor who preached encouraged us to serve faithfully in whatever area God has placed us in because we are Christ’s representatives here on earth. That includes our home, our work place, our ministry in the church, among teenage peers, and even our talents that we share with the world such as athletics. His main passage of Scripture was in John chapter 13 where Christ showed servant-hood and humility by washing His disciples feet. He also referenced Philippians 2 where Paul admonishes us to esteem others above ourselves. He used the example of Christ taking on the form of a servant and becoming like men so that we might have forgiveness through Him. By the way, that Pastor is the husband to Tammy, the creator of creativekkids.com.

So when you are in the “slums” and feel so discouraged that you do not know how you are going to pull yourself out, just remember Christ and that you are His representative. God will give us the strength to do His will day by day.

Verse of encouragement: Isaiah 40:28-31 (kJV)

28 Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding.

29 He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.

30 Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall:

31 But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
