Decorative Yarn or Twine Easter Eggs

Decorative Yarn Easter Eggs

I am not one to do much Easter egg decorating just because I did not grow up with the tradition. In fact, last year was rhe first time I attempted doing some food coloring eggs with the kids. But if you are looking to put a new twist on Easter egg decorating, you can try decorating them with yarn or twine. I saw the idea in a Country Living magazine and decided to give them a try.

Egg Decor Mag

They are way easier to make than any other egg decorating I have tried in the past. And the Spring colors really make the decorations pop!  The ones in the magazine are decorated with twine but yarn is cheaper, so I went with it and it turned out well.

Yarn Egg Decor

Although, there was one particular yarn that did not want to corporate (the multicolored one). It took me a while to get it and I still don’t think it turned out well as the other colors.

Here is how to make them.

  • Decorative Easter eggs (I used fake eggs).
  • Spring colored yarn or twine
  • Crafter’s glue
  • Easter grass (optional)

Egg Craft Material

 Egg Craft

Use a small paintbrush to apply glue onto the top of an eggs. (I squeezed it on there). Don’t worry about the excess glue.

Egg Craft Glue

Starting in the center of the top, wrap yarn or twine into a tight circle.

Continue to brush on glue and wrap the egg until it is completely covered.

(You will use approximately 12 feet of twine for each egg).

Yarn Inspired Eggs

Trim of the excess. Let the eggs dry. Once the eggs dry, there will not be any residue from the glue. Use the eggs to decorate your home.Yarn Eggs

The colors really make the eggs pop so I went ahead and took many photos of them!

  1. Just beautiful, love it! I like the fact that you used yarn and made the project your own too. I may do this too.
My mother always colored eggs when we were growing up so I did it with my girls too. They do it now. My baby girl doesn’t have children yet so she always makes a trip down for a visit to color eggs with her nieces and nephews around Easter time. It’s great that you are starting your own family traditions with your children.

  2. Your eggs look really great! It was such an easy project, wasn’t it? But with an awesome, colorful result! I’m glad we were thinking alike when thinking of Easter eggs this year! ๐Ÿ™‚ I like your Bible verse, too. Did you know there is a plugin you can get that will post a new verse on your blog everyday?

  3. They are truly easy to make. I am glad we were thinking alike, too! I am glad you like the Bible verses, too and I did not know there was a plugin that would post a daily verse. Will have to check it out! Thanks for letting me know!

  4. Your yarn eggs turned out very pretty. I love all the different colors of them. Decorating eggs is a fun tradition. Even though my children are grown now, I still do a few each year. Thanks for sharing this and your wreath on the Spring Craft Blog Hop.

  5. I always have so much yarn at my house because I love to crochet and knit. What a great way to use up small bits of yarn. Thanks for linking up to the Bloggers Brags Pinterest Party. I have pinned your post to the Bloggers Brags Pinterest Board.
