Although the official start of the summer is not here yet, the fact that kids are on summer break and that the days are hotter and brighter through the evening make it feel like summer.
Plan but Slow Down
We are not yet on Summer break since we are homeschooling and have a few more lessons to finish up. However, I was creating some printables for other reasons and thought I would create one for summer activities. So many times parents can get into a mad rush of things and forget to slow down. At times, we can even overlook the fact that kids will be happy just playing around the house with their own things (especially smaller children). So while they may be on break from school it does not necessarily mean that they should be doing some planned out activity daily to keep them from being bored and you being over-worked in the process. It’s great to plan some activities but it’s also great to take some time to just chill, slow down and relax. This may be easier said than done especially you’re used to being busy or it may just be coming from a person brought up in slow country but it may be worth trying.
If you are looking to plan some summer activities to do with your kids, this free printable may be of help to you. Simply jot down your ideas and keep them on hand. If the kids are old enough, they could even help by suggesting activities they’d like to do (within reason, of course). You can display the list on your command center or on your refrigerator door so the kids can see them. If they are not able to read the list, it’s OK because you’ll still have the ideas on paper. Sometimes we may think of ideas (whether simple or not-so simple) and then later forget about them. In times when you have forgotten and need some inspiration you can easily go back to revisit your list and pick something from it. Or even more so your best option may be to ask direction from the one who controls all because really, our best plans are something small.
