My hubby wanted to take a small trip before the summer ends. He discussed going to Wisconsin Dells but I was not to thrilled about the idea. I had been to the Dells twice before and just was not “feeling” it this time around.
The kids had not been there yet so I guess it could have been nice for them.
Anyway, we settled on just spending an overnight within the area and then going to Six Flags Great America amusement park on Saturday. So Friday evening the entire family spent the night at a hotel (about 40 minutes) away from our present home. It was about 5 minutes down from where we used to live.
Six Flags is about an hour away from our present home. So from the hotel to Six Flags is about 20 minutes. We did this because the hotels were cheaper out there.
While Six Flags may not be a getaway activity for some, it was for us. The last time I went there was 6 years ago. The kids had never been (and of course, they are still very little). But now you understand why it was a getaway for us.
Below are some of the activities we did.
Friday evening we ate at Golden Corral – one of hubby’s favorite buffets.
S enjoying her meal
Baby B’s dinner – just a strawberry
Then we went to the hotel – Courtyard Marriot Hotel.
S entertaining us – the baby could not stop chuckling:)
Saturday morning, we went to the pool at the hotel.
Then we drove to Cracker Barrel – by the time we got there we decided to order lunch instead of breakfast. It is real close to Six Flags.
Off to have some fun
This is a huge Merry-Go-Round – Most of the activities and rides we did were for the kids sake. Although hubby could not leave without riding the roller coasters, twice.
I wanted to go on the Merry-Go-Round but baby B decided to take a nap
S and her daddy enjoyed a kids roller coaster for her sake. I was expecting to hear her scream but hubby said she stayed calm
A fun bus we went on
This was the baby’s favorite – she is 7 months old and really enjoyed hanging unto the steering wheel while these cars moved around a path.. The people standing by, awaiting their turn, thought it was funny. She was soooo cute. I wanted to get a photo from the front view with her but hubby was in another car and I had the camera…Oh well!!
Singing, dancing ladies
Crazy folks on a huge roller coaster
About to leave..Look at all the cars as far as the eyes could see – and these are only a few sides of the HUGE parking lot. The lot is actually numbered so people could remember where they parked. Thousands upon thousands – crazy!
And finally we made it to our car -whoo!!!!
We had planned to go a nearby mall after when we left but it was already too late. There is a kids store in there that has really nice yet reasonably priced outfits for kids. But we wanted to get our tired kids home for bed since the next day was church. So we drove back home and I decided to visit a few stores in the same complex, close to home.
Got a few outfits from Carter’s for our girls…especially the toddler.
She has outgrown all her baby-ish stuff and is constantly needing more. The baby (7 months) has tons new as well as passed down from her sister. Although, I must say, she is big and quickly outgrowing her clothes. Over the weekend, about 5 different people thought she was close to a year old.
In there pretty new dresses ready for church yesterday.
Also, I stopped at Home Goods store. I spotted a purple magazine rack that I thought would go well with the kids bathroom. They only had purple color in this one.
But then I spotted a kind of brown one that matched our bathroom perfectly. They were both on sale and they were on my list of things to buy anyway.
Oh, and a cute little trash can for the kids play area, that I found at $5 Below store.
I know, TMI, but it is fun to talk about it for those who care to read:)
