When we moved into this house, one of the things I was concerned about is adding nails in the walls. I know it may seem like a small thing to some but a girl’s got to be able to have some freedom to decorate right? So far, I have not added much as I am still figuring out where and what I actually want to add. But that blank space over the pantry was calling for something. I wanted to add some kind of sign but was not sure what I wanted it to say – market, grocery, pantry, etc. Eventually, I decided to stick to the real word and create an easy ‘pantry’ sign to hang above it.
Here was my blank wall. Doesn’t it look like it needed something there?
I used a re-purposed sign and painted over it. Then printed out the word ‘pantry’ in Microsoft to write on the panted wood. You can find a similar full tutorial here. Total cost for this project was zero as I already had everything on hand . Well of course, I had to buy them at some point but you get the idea.
I could not wait to fill that blank space once I was satisfied with the look. It is the perfect size – not too large and not too tiny. It is an easy update to the space and that blank wall is not staring at me every time I’m the kitchen.
I am realizing that small home updates do not have to cost a fortune. Would it have been easy to go find a sign at a store? Maybe so and maybe not. Sometimes trying to find the right item at the right sore takes a while. I saved money and time by creating this simple one.
What do you think? Was this an easy enough addition that even you could do? I would love to know your thoughts in the comments!
The pantry sign fits that space perfectly. I love doing projects that are easy and when I can repurpose something in my home and I don’t have to buy anything, it’s even better. You did a great job on the sign and it looks so pretty over your pantry door.
I agree – re-purposing is such a great way to save money! Thanks – the sign was really easy to make!
You literally made me get up and go look at the wall above my pantry. It DOES look bare! Now look what you made me do! HA!
Ha ha, so glad you I inspired you and got you off your seat.. LOL!! Anyway, go make a sign – your pantry will thank you!
Wait…. Did you repurpose? No cost? That’s my girl It’s adorable. Your house is looking amazing, Zan!
Cute, Zan! I love little details that make a pantry special.
Thank you so much Lora!
