Peach Puff Pastry Tartlets for Easy Fall Entertaining

Thanks for Sharing!

Fall is such a wonderful time for entertaining family and friends. There is just something about gathering together for a meal (big or small) or dessert served with tea or coffee on a chilly evening.

We love having friends over. In fact, just a few weeks ago we had a lovely little family join us at our table for lunch on a Sunday afternoon. The meal was great (if I should say so myself) and the conversation around the table and into the evening was just what everyone needed.

But because I am a busy mom with little ones, I am always looking for the short-cuts to make preparation for entertaining guests easier. Getting the table ready and making some meals ahead of time is always such a big help. It takes away from the stress of being frazzled trying to do everything on the last minute when the guests are arriving.

One of foods I like to prepare early, is the dessert. There is usually no compromising – if we are entertaining guests we are having dessert. Desserts are always great for making ahead. But I always make something that requires some. Recently though, I tried making desserts with Pepperidge Farmยฎ Puff Pastry and never knew how easy it made cooking. It is freezer ready and is just awesome for creating recipes that look and taste just as good. There is something about light and flaky golden dough that I crave when I am working with pastry. These Puff Pastry Sheets met all the requirements! Needless to say, after I bought one, I went back to the store and grabbed a few more and tried out three different recipes. It is easy to use for meals any time of day, breakfast, lunch, dinner, appetizers, basically anything. Fill it up and bake it or bake it and fill it with desired filling. There is no right or wrong with these Puff Pastry Sheets.

One of my creations was some really easy delicious Puff Pastry Peach Tartlets. Not only were they delicious, but my home smelled like Fall all the way through the baking process. The cinnamon and nutmeg combined with fresh peaches created such a wonderful aroma throughout the home. I could not wait for these to bake to eat a FEW!

I began by thawing the Puff Pastry Sheets and then unrolling them like the following image shows. Each sheet (there are two) comes in sections of three rectangular pieces. I cut them apart and then into smaller squares.

I laid each square on a baking sheet. It is helpful to lightly grease the baking pan or use foil or parchment before laying the pastry. Then I added some of the peach mixture (recipe below) to each square and baked them. Yep, it was that easy and ready in a few minutes. I love creating recipes with dough but I always dread the whole dough making process. But these Puff Pastry Sheets made the entire process so simple.

Once they were out of the oven, I could not wait for them to cool a bit before diving into them. I may have popped a few hot bites in my mouth. Seriously, I ate about 5 right away. But I was on my way out the door for a few minutes so I had to quit eating and get going. When I came back, I ate some more. Later after dinner, this made an awesome dessert with a scoop of ice cream. Basically, I ate way too many.

But Puff Pastry is becoming a favorite around here. I love how easy it is to work with and it may just be the newest addition to our dessert and appetizer list when it comes to entertaining.

Catch a glimpse of some spinach cream cheese rolls and cinnamon swirls I also made. I figured since Puff Pastry is so easy to work with, I would go ahead and create a few different recipes. Appetizers are always a great start to a great meal. Although I must admit that sometimes I eat too much appetizers when they are that good and cannot finish my meal.

So now that I have sang the song about Puff Pastry Sheets, here is the easy recipe I used to make my delicious Puff Pastry Peach Tartlets. Think I am going to try using apples as a substitute for the peaches, too.

  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • Dash ground nutmeg
  • Vanilla ice cream (optional)

Meanwhile, mix sliced peaches, sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, and nutmeg together in a bowl. Set aside. Once the pastry is thawed, roll it out and divide each sheet into three pieces using the already pre-cut rectangular sections. Cut each rectangle into 4 smaller squares. Lay them on about an inch apart on prepared baking pans. Divide peach mixture among each square. Bake at 400 for 15 to 20 minutes until the fruit is cooked and the Puff Pastry is golden brown. Let cool. Serve alone or with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, if desired.

  1. I love using shortcuts when entertaining, especially if the shortcuts produce a wonderful dessert like the one you made. I love the simplicity of this dessert and it looks so delicious.
