There are so many crafts that can be made out of used tin cans. The following one is a familiar childhood craft.
What you need for this craft:
1 tin can, preferably a 28oz can (the 14.5oz one would probably work, too but I find the 28oz can is slightly longer and the sticks fit more snugly).
popsicle sticks (I used the colored ones, My daughter wanted pink or purple but I was not sure that the colors would be enough to go around)
felt, color of choice (my daughter wanted pink)
ribbon, color of choice (optional)
Measure felt around tin can and cut any extras. Glue the felt unto the can.
My felt was not large enough to go around so I used a cut an extra piece to cover.
Next, glue popsicle sticks unto the felt. I started at the point where I added the extra felt – this was my mark to know where I started.
If using colored sticks, start with one color and add the other colors. I started with the orange.
Then start with the first color and do the same until the entire can is covered.
If using the ribbon, at this point, you can let the sticks dry before adding the the ribbon or you can do like me and get it all done at once. If you choose not to use ribbon, then you are all done! Just let it dry.
To use the ribbon – Measure a piece of ribbon long enough to go around the can and to tie into a bow. My ribbon was thin so I used two pieces to make it slightly broader. Glue ribbon unto the sticks and then make the bow. Now let the can dry out.
Add pencils, pens, crayons, or whatever kids stuff in the holder. Lovely!
