The Kitchen

Kitchen Tour - Our New Kitchen Tour - From At Home With Zan-

Our kitchen in the new house looks very similar to the one from our previous house. I simply could not believe how similar they looked – even the kids noticed it. The layout, the cabinets, the colors, everything looks so similar. Even the part where the breakfast table goes have the same make up. There are only just a couple things that make it a little bit different. This one is a tad smaller. The office corner like the other house. Well, there is a corner but it is just not attached to the fridge. It’s shown in a photo down below. And the backsplash is different.

When we picked this house, I saw the similarity but I didn’t want to make an issue of it. After all, there are some who don’t even have kitchens or they own tiny kitchens and can’t even move in them. The kitchen in one of our homes was super small so I figured I should deal with it. In addition, as a homemaker, I create a home to meet our family’s needs. But sometimes I share what we do at home and I do feel like a dark kitchen throws off the photos.

In any event, we make the best of what we have. I try to organize it in a way that would help me bypass the color because really, as long as we can cook and enjoy our meals that is the most important part right? So take a look around at what our kitchen looks like now. You can see our previous kitchen tour here for some similarities, if you’d like.

The pantry has a single door as opposed to a double folding door in the last kitchen. I prefer this one better but it does hit the counters a little if swung opened too hard. There is a little thing to block it from hitting against the cabinets but I don’t think it’s very effective. There are more shelves in this one too – shelves on both sides.

These barstools are new and I got them at a good price for all four. We had two in the other house but they don’t seem to work here. The have backs and were too close to the fridge. These are close to the fridge too (I guess it’s where the island is) but without the backs they seem to work much better. I did love the backs for the sake of the kids. I felt like it was easier to get onto, sit, and get down from with the backs.

This is the small corner I talked about earlier. I was going to use it for a tiny office and command center but decided to create this kids space instead once we enrolled them in school. It’s a homework station and creative corner that’s really being helping to keep us organized. You can see it here.

I’m trying to figure out a good piece of rug to put under the breakfast table to keep it from sliding over. I’d put our old one here but it just seemed to large and a bit cluttered considering the family room is just off the corner. It had a similar set up in the other house except the other house larger so everything just seemed spaced out. We have more corners in this new house.

So that’s the kitchen area in a nutshell. I’ve taken photos of how I organized the pantry and drawers too. I know I did a couple posts about them already in our previous home and not sure if I’ll do one since they are kind of the same. Find a tour of that other kitchen here.

Do you love your kitchen? What would you change if you could change something about it? Will it be the size, color, layout?
