Every late Spring/early Summer, the kids and I make a special trip to Walmart and sometimes Target to pick up some summer gear for them. Not that we didn’t go to Walmart all-the-time. In fact, at our previous locations, Walmart was only a few minutes away which made it very convenient for when we needed products from their store. So we would go to Walmart (Target) to buy them various types of shoes that they could use during the summer.
Buying Summer Shoes Yearly
Because by the time summer rolls around, they have already outgrown their previous set of shoes that we stored away for winter. When they were much younger, it made sense to buy shoes that were an extra size up. They were those for a at least 2 years. Now it seems that even if I buy a size up by they still out grow them.
Buy two sizes up? I don’t see the need. They would look to big on the kids and they wouldn’t be able to walk in them properly – the shoes would fall off. So we stick to something close to their actual sizes with a little extra room.
Kids Summer Shoes from Walmart & Target
Usually, I’d try Walmart first since their little shoes are very inexpensive and affordable for us since the kids outgrow their shoes yearly. I find that purchasing them inexpensive doesn’t feel like wasted money. There’s no need to go buy high-priced shoes for them to run around outside with especially since they are quickly outgrown.
In this round-up, there are flip flops for as low as $.98 cents (I couldn’t find the links for these though) but there are other shoes for around $5. All of the sneakers were under $20. Favorite Summer Shoes for Kids
Flip flops – We find that flip-flops are so much easier to slip to step outside for a minute (or just for playing around the house). They are also great for summer outdoor family outings depending on what they are. If you are heading to the store, having a play date at a friend’s house, or even heading to the beach, flip-flops are great for those too.

We found these flip flops in this next image for .98 cents a pair. However, looks like they are not listed online so I can’t find a way to link them. But these are definitely great for everyday use especially when you want the kids to “save” their nicer pair of flip flops for other outings:)

Jelly Janes – Ah, we love these little jelly shoes. We call them water shoes because they can be “soaked” in water yet dried up within seconds. I mean, when your shoes are made out of hard plastic and a ton of holes what do you expect? These little shoes are great for anything summer – walks, play, water, going shopping, visiting others, even going to church….you name it. They can be dressed up or down.
