In the earlier months of this year, I decided I will try to read at least two books this year. So far, half the year is gone and I have only gotten through one.
I am, by no means a fast reader and I do not have a consistent reading schedule. So I try to catch a couple chapters here and there.
The book I just finished reading is called True Woman 101 by Nancy Leigh DeMoss & Mary A. Kassian. It is an eight week study but I did not read it in the order it suggested.
Basically, the authors address the feminist movement which began in the early 1960’s. Women sought to obtain equality with men which included areas of employment, voting, property rights, equal pay, etc. Unfortunately, this movement left a long lasting impact on the American culture toady. God made women to be a help-mate to men but women have long strayed away from that truth. When God created men and women, he created them in such a way that their calling would glorify Him. This is not to say that either gender is better than the other in any form or shape. But women want more!!! Their desire is to do everything that men do and to do it even better.
DeMoss & Kassian use a wide variety of scripture verses to urge women to embrace the beauty of womanhood that God has given to them. They encourage women to take on the role of motherhood & keeping the home as God intended. They are not saying that women cannot work outside the home nor can men do work around the home. But they are simply encouraging women to take their place and to set an example for the next generation to follow.
