I had fun making this bunny topped cake. Isn’t the little chocolate bunny so cute? It’s my favorite just sitting there. I mean, who wouldn’t want to see this on a table? This cake is a replica of one I made years ago. I long wanted to update photos and finally just did it. Compare the older version here. Although the frosting on the older version is a lot more brilliant in yellow and the cake is more moist.

Easter Chocolate Bunny Cake

Ingredients:

  • 1 Box of Chocolate Cake Mix
  • Ingredients for cake mix
  • Whipped Cream
  • A Chocolate Bunny
  • 1 Cup Unsweetened Coconut Flakes
  • Green Food Coloring
  • Yellow Food Coloring

Directions:

  • Mix and bake cake according to directions on the package. Allow to cool.

To Frost & Decorate:

  • To make the grass, place coconut into a Ziploc bag. Add green food coloring, shake with hands until the coconut tunes green.
  • Add a few drops of yellow food coloring to the whipped cream. Mix to get a yellow color. Add a little more food coloring if desired. Mix.
  • Frost cake.
  • Sprinkle “grass” around the cake and in the top middle.

Bunny Chocolate Topping: Add Chocolate Eggs in the grass, both at the top and around the bottom of the cake.

  • Place the Chocolate Bunny sitting in the middle of the grass.

I love the look of this – the bunny is seriously is my favorite. I had to add the “grass” for emphasis to show that the bunny is sitting in the grass outside… on a Sunny day (yellow decor), and the chocolate cake representing the dirt:)
