Homemaking Cleaning & Organizing Series: The Living Room

Thanks for Sharing!

There is not much to be said about organizing the living room from my end. Except, choose the furniture and colors of your taste and that will definitely compliment your paint colors. See my previous post and full décor here on decorating on a budget.

We have played around with a few different coffee table sets. We first had a really nice round set that was made with iron and wood. But it was not so toddler friendly, after all. Our little one kept hurting her body on the iron part. I had covered the edges with a toddler safe corner/edge cover, but we still had the problem of the iron legs. Needless to say, I sold the set (sad to see it go) and bought this new one. If you go back to my post and full décor here on decorating on a budget, you will see that the end tables are round.

It took me a while to find something I kind of liked after I sold the other one (it was really nice). In addition, to find something toddler-friendly is a pain. I search stores and online about 5 months before I settled on anything. The new one is not so toddler friendly (I have to cover the edges with foam) because the kids still keep getting hurt by them.

The set came in parts by FedEx and by UPS a few days after I placed the order. By the way, I never order anything without first reading a bunch of reviews and making sure it is at least 4 stars. This one had 5 stars (for class, material, & easy set up).

Also, it came in a box to assemble. Assembling was super easy (I’d say less than 30 minutes) if you have no kids around getting in the way.

The coffee table is a little smaller that others we have owned but it has a double stand which gives a little extra space. The end tables are nice and tall, which I like a lot. The color of the set is a little lighter than previous ones but they will do the job for now. I cannot say it was my best pick, but I am content to have it and I think it works with the living room colors. As you can see, I use a kind of fall-themed color scheme year round!

Here is how they love after I set them up and added minimal décor!

What do you think about the look? What are your tips for organizing the living room? Would love to hear in the comments!

  1. When my kids were little, I had an octagon shaped coffee table because it didn’t have sharp edges. I really like your new one. Looks great!
