Summertime and Ice-cream go hand in hand, don’t you think? Especially on those very hot days – rumor has it that temps is supposed to get around 101 degrees in July. Ah, those hot days!
Summertime Ice-Cream Social
We did an Ice-cream social for our family and it was so much fun! It’s not the first summer we’ve done it. This is our 3rd summer having one and it is always such a hit with the kids! They’ve asked for it again this year so we did! They love choosing their favorite ice-cream flavors and adding their own toppings. Such a simple activity you can do with your family during the summer time or anytime!
Our second daughter completed kindergarten and after her photo shoot we did the party to celebrate. The first time we did an ice-cream party, I took photos to share but didn’t like how they turned out. We were rushing off someplace and I tried to snap some photos before leaving. Some turned out OK but I opted out of sharing that set of photos.
But this time, I thought I’d share how we do it and how simple it is to put together so you too could throw your kiddos an ice-cream party on a hot summer day.

Here is our little Kindergartner getting her ice-cream and adding whatever topping she wanted. On ice-cream party day you can add as many toppings as you’d like:)
The rest us customized our ice-cream too. So much fun!
Why popsicles? Believe it our not, our 4 year old boy has never liked ice-cream. He’ll eat the plain cones but never ice-cream. So I usually have popsicles on hand for when we have ice-cream. If you do a party, you can always have some popsicles on hand for kids who may prefer to have that instead.
We usually have water after an ice-cream party or just after we have ice-cream. I’m not quite sure why but sometimes it feels like you gotta drink something.

I know you probably have ice-cream but have you had an ice-cream party before? They are so much fun. More fun to eat of course than to put together but either way, your family will enjoy it!
Thanks for this idea ! Grandsons are flying across the ocean to visit us and we’re searching for ideas to make their visit as special as possible. I’m pretty sure this will be a favorite for them.
I’m happy you found this helpful! What kid doesn’t enjoy ice-cream? Hope you can pull this off to make their time special with you!!:)
