The Kids & School 2021

Thanks for Sharing!

Here we are “back to school” once again and all of the Kids and School 2021!

Our kids are all officially in school this year. We now have a 5th grader (wasn’t she just in K5?), a 3rd grader, and also a 1st grader. Those kids are growing up right before my eyes. While I miss them being tiny kids who played dress up all day and didn’t have to do school, I also see them learning new things, developing their skills, and becoming more and more who God created them to be.

Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord: and the fruit of the womb is his reward (Psalm 127:3)

Our Youngest

Our little boy (now 6 yrs old) didn’t do official Kindergarten but we did do some un-official schooling some days. By schooling I mean, with workbooks practicing ABCs, Mazes, Shapes, Opposites, Location of items, etc. I didn’t count his everyday play and activities as unofficial since that was just part of his daily activities as a child. Now that he has started official homeschool, I’ll start counting some of those activities toward school (such as family trips to the zoo, an Apple Orchard to pick apples, a farm, travel, and such activities. We’re doing a combo of Kindergarten just to get some reading basics and also First Grade.

He’s my funny guy who loves anything trip, hotels, stacking items together, and jumping in Kids bouncy houses! Animals are his favorites and could name all the dinosaurs by the age of 5 (such big names I’ve never even heard off). Always looking out for his mama and trying to please her. Some days, he’ll randomly come up to me and give hugs and kisses:)

Kindergarten – 1st Grade

3rd Grade

Our second daughter is now in 3rd Grade. She’s 8  & our little fashionista! She’s our perfectionist and the most patient kid you ever did see! She loves to create and while she enjoys playing with others, you can find her playing quietly and independently many times in her room.

This girl can retain learning in a way that amazes me – Reads something once, explains the whole thing as if she’d read it a few times. Memorizing poems were one of her favorite things in 2nd Grade and I just loved that. I’m hoping she still loves doing that since we’ve done zero of it over the summer:)

5th Grade

Seems like this girl was just in Kindergarten. She’s our first little one at 10 years old and now in 5th Grade (that just doesn’t seem right). But anyway, here we are and I’m excited about the possibility of introducing a little more complex learning concepts & broader subject areas (such as The Arts). Feels right for this age.

She loves the outdoors and anything with the word “trip” in its name. Always talking about us taking a trip to the Bahamas (haha). She excels in Math among other subject areas. Love how she’s growing and learning so many new things!

Trying to get some “Back to School” photos was quite the chore this year. It rained here for days on end during that first week and I just felt like I’d just wait until the weather was less cloudy and outside was less wet to get the photos. On a weekend when we were heading to a Homeschool event, they got all dressed, did hair and took photos. I’m sure it took about an hour or more just to get everything done:( But we were so relieved once we got them:) Love all of my little ones!!

I chose the verses of Psalm 121: 1-2 for us to start off this school year because I just know that nothing was going to get down except the Lord helps us. Especially since we had a lot of bumps in the road with moving to a new area and trying to figure out everything new (including planning for school in the midst of it all). “I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth.”

She looketh well to the ways of her household and eateth not the bread of idleness (Proverbs 31:27).
