Trusting in God’s Promises

devotions for women

Lately, I’ve been having a difficult time trusting in God’s promises. Sometimes things don’t turn out the way we expect them to and then with all our heart we want to question, “why?”. As I sort to find a devotional thought of encouragement, my mind went to Proverbs 31 ministries. Not that I couldn’t just read my Bible to find a verse by myself. But I find that God has given men and women incredible wisdom from the Scriptures, that often times our own weaknesses prevent us from seeing and understanding His truth.

The writer, of the devotional that day, spoke about how God is concerned with the little things in our lives just as He is with the bigger things. Even more so than the devotional thought itself, one of the focused verses really stood out to me. That verse is found in Deuteronomy 31:8,

And the Lord, he it is that doth go before thee; he will be with thee, he will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed.

I read it over and over a few times to let it sink in and applying it to our family. You see, we have moved and have experienced some real struggles. I’ll not go into details but not every move is as easy as one may think. As a family, that verse seem very fitting for us right now. We knew moving was going to be somewhat different but nothing can’t fill the void in our hearts than the joy that the Lord gives. In times when we feel that we just can’t go on, God desires for us to trust in His promises. “And the Lord, he is that doth go before thee; He will be with thee”. So we must not fear or be discouraged despite the circumstances because God’s promises never fail – they are yay and Amen.
