If you have little kids, they’ll love painting pumpkins as an activity during the Fall. I think it’s a popular Fall activity that kids enjoy.
Painting a pumpkin is such a fun and easy activity that kids can do during the Fall. Kids of all ages can paint a little pumpkin, toddlers, preschoolers, Kindergartners, all the way up. We picked out some pumpkins from a pumpkin patch (a real patch we din’t just pick them out from a pile of pumpkin already picked). We decided to paint some of them and use them in our decor. The kids loved the activity and I love displaying their work on our porch!!
How to Paint Pumpkins With Kids
What you need:
- Pumpkins (any size)
- Paint (any colour)
- Paint brushes
- Old paper or plastic table cloth
What to do:
- Cover the area with paper or an old plastic table cloth.
- Le the kids choose their paint colors and paint their pumpkins (they can make any design).
- Let the pumpkins dry (on the paper inside or outside).
- Display your kids work of art some where in your home. See how we used ours on Fall front porch here.
Note: The kids don’t have to use only paint brushes. They can use sponges, or drip painting, etc.
Here’s our little 8 year old’s creation. She wanted to make some kind of pattern with stripes and polka dots. I just love how all the kids have different imagination!
This is her creation!
Our 4 year old is all about black and blue no matter what season or holiday it is. All he really wants to do is use his two favorite colors. And sometimes he’ll try to mix up everything to see what color it will become. Sure! His pumpkin came out sort of like drip art and I love it!
Our 6 year old is very particular with what she does. I love her red and polka dot green at the bottom of the pumpkin. She loved her creation!!

Hope your little ones can find this popular Fall activity exciting just as our little ones did.
