Last Friday, hubby took the day off work so we could go the farm to pick apples as a family. He had traveled to various states over the past two weeks and wanted to take some time to be with us. Even today, he already went to Wisconsin. Just an overnight trip this time. But going to the farm is kind of an annual thing that we started even before we had kids. We just love when all the yummy Fall fruits are in full bloom and we can go pick them fresh from the trees. The cost may not be as efficient as we would like and the farms are not even close by (at least an hour’s drive). And we chose farms according to what they have ready. But we love the experience! Here are previous posts about our trips. Last year we visited two different farms: Knuton’s Country Harvest in July & Royal Oak Farm in October.
Below are photos of our trip and then a delicious apple pie recipe we made with some fresh cooking apples. Our little 3 year old wanted me to make apple pie from the moment I told her we were going to the farm. She loves cooked apples with all the spices and a little sweet – but she does not eat the crust.
I really love how this farm is Christ-centered. Many verses could be seen throughout different areas of the farm. Over the fire place on the left side in the photo below, is a that plaque quotes Romans 11:33-36. And of course, we sat sat around the fireplace and warmed ourselves because it was a bit chilly outside. Then we had some hot cider when we were leaving!
And those apples made us some delicious apple pies!

What have you done this past weekend? Do you ever go visit the farms if you live far away from them? Would love to know!
She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness (Proverbs 31;27, KJV).
I just love apple pie. And the crusT is my favorite part! When the kids were growing up, we would take them to a Christian owned apple orchard every fall. They served the best apple doughnuts and apple cider while the owner told the story of Johnny Appleseed and compared it to God giving his only son. Then he would invite the kids to give their hearts to Jesus. Awesome!
I know, the crust is my fav, too! Sounds like a great time to testify of the Lord; what a blessing that must have been. Even on a farm!
It sounds like a lot of fun! We don’t have apple farms here in middle Georgia but we do have Pumpkin patches and Pecan orchards!
That apple pie sounds delicious. I like a slice of apple pie with a piece of cheese melted on top and big glass of cold milk!!
So much fun for us! Pumpkin patches and orchards sound like so much fun, too. I took the kids to a pumpkin patch today – they absolutely loved it!
Nice! I just made homemade pie this weekend too and plan on sharing on the blog later this week. Isn’t it the best?
Would love to check out your recipe! Yes, homemade is always the best!
How much fun was that!!! We always go to the orchard in Blue Ridge, GA, when we are there visiting friends, love it there! Here in Central Florida, during the appropriate seasons we go strawberry and blueberry picking!
Oh, strawberry and blueberry picking sounds like fun. I have relatives down in FL – should take a trip!!
We love farm visits too. We are blessed to have some great farms around us. Your apples looks so yummy and the apple pie – delicious!
Thank you so much Anna!!! No farms close by us – but always fun to visit them!
Oh, what fun! Your daughter looks like she had a great time. I have always wanted to go apple picking, and have yet to do so. There is a place to go out in Julian, California, but it is about a two hour drive, so it takes planning. Someday I will get there. 🙂 PINNED your recipe!

I cannot believe your 3 year old didn’t want to try the crust, that’s my favorite part! It’s so yummy once it’s soaked up the juices from the apples 🙂
