Pool Time – Things to do in Charleston, SC

Thanks for Sharing!

Pools make a fun way to cool down during the summer time. The pools in our neighborhood are easy to access during the summer. There are three different pools that are free for the residents to use which makes it easy to create a summer schedule with pool time included or to take spontaneous trips to the pools. Or on days when going further from home for activities get exhausting or finances seem low, the pools are a saver.

I’ve taken several photos of our kids swimming or us at the pools over the years we’ve been here. These were taken with my phone that I don’t think I intended to post here but as I was thinking about activities to do around the area, I decided to make a post about it.

So that’s one of the activities we do for the summer. It’s not easy entertaining the kids as they get older. It was easier for them to play with toys when they were little. Now and especially here in our area where every kid is enrolled in a camp of some sort during the summer, it becomes a little lonely sitting home. Not having the option to play outside with friends makes it a little tough, although the humidity and heat here could be a little much to play outside. But in general, it really does feel lonely when most kids are in summer camps.

Well, why aren’t mine in camps? When we first moved here, it was easy for camp not be on my list since it was not before and also, I was a stay-at-home mom who did not need some place for the kids to be in the summer. But over time, we have enrolled them in a skill such as soccer, Art class, Flag Football or so to help them develop skills or learn something, sometimes a sport that they want to do once the Fall semester begins. But those camps are not always cost-friendly so we have to decide what we can and cannot do. One year, we did a “Summer of Music” where we learned an instrument of choice and took lessons one day a week – piano, guitar and drum. That was fun.

But anyways, the pools are free and fun and if you’re tired of swimming, you can just hangout while the kids swim because that too can be exhausting:)
