Our Second Daughter Turns 8!
That huge smile says it all! Our daughter was so happy for her 8th birthday it was beyond words. We did a party at home on her day just with the family. It was in those cold winter months during Covid-19 when you’re not sure who to invite or what to do. But we brought it!
She turned 8 last December 22, 2020. Because her birthday is so close to Christmas, I don’t usually get the chance to share her birthday until after the holidays. In this case, a little over a year later!! But oh well, I’m not just sharing her birthday for looks, it’s also to give you ideas of how to throw a winter birthday party for kids.
Winter Birthday Party Ideas
Winter themed birthday parties are so much fun. All you need are your base colors and snowflakes and a snowman or two to make everything come to life. You really can’t go wrong. This frozen birthday party was such a hit! The kids had loads of fun and our daughter enjoyed her birthday to the fullest!! It’s always encouraging when the birthday kid proclaims how much they enjoyed their birthday!!
First, we went shopping. We tend to do a little shopping for her birthday where she gets to choose a few items from the stores that she loves. It’s such a fun time for she and I as she walks around choosing her favorite girly stuff. I believe this store here is Marshalls, one of her favorites last year.
Frozen 2 Birthday Party Ideas
Make the breakfast winter-ish. We got some Donuts for her breakfast. So happy that the colors were the same as her birthday colors (pink and purple). We added the snowflakes sprinkles to go along with her Frozen theme. You could also do pancakes or waffles with a dusting of powdered sugar, or just your child’s favorite breakfast.
Lunch Ideas for Frozen 2 Birthday Parties
We did Pizza and that is totally OK for a kids party. You could go all out and do something else theme related such as winter sandwiches, white cheeses, crackers, etc. I know our kids aren’t into all these type of foods so we stuck to something our daughter enjoys.
Milkshakes are one of her favorite treats. On occasion, we’ll make one as “at home” treat. For her birthday, I made a white chocolate milk shake (instead of ice-cream). Also, I made a blueberry banana smoothie for our son. Note: At that age, he didn’t enjoy anything with milk & chocolate. In fact, up until now he still doesn’t do chocolate but he has warmed up to certain ice-creams (specifically Vanilla & Cotton Candy flavors) from places like McDonalds, Dairy Queen or other ice-cream shops.
Frozen 2 Birthday Cake Ideas
She was so happy with her cake. We ordered it from Walmart. Their cakes are always beautifully decorated. Besides the cake, we bought some cupcakes too. These are pink and purple and are actually called Unicorn Cupcakes. She enjoys these but we mainly got them for our little son since they’re the only cupcakes he enjoys fully.
The kids and I made these blue and white chocolate covered pretzels for Christmas and Winter to add to our holiday treats and also to add to our Hot Cocoa Station. Not much of it was eaten, but they were so beautiful to look at on the table.
You could definitely make the cake, I’ve made some of their cakes. Sometimes though, ordering a cake is easier especially when it’s around the holiday season. This was a delicious cake!
Frozen 2 Birthday Party Games
“Pin the Nose” on Olaf Game was a highlight of the party for the kids – actually for the entire family. Turns upon turns and laughs upon laughs as we all tried to get the nose in the correct place but for the most part, missed it. I’m so glad I purchased it. You can find this one here on Amazon.
Frozen 2 Birthday Craft Ideas
We made Elsa’s Gloves as we called them. These were easy. All you need are some plain blue gloves, purl beads and hot glue. We got everything from the Dollar Tree. The kids can decorate them in whatever design they choose by gluing the beads on the gloves.
How to Make a Marshmallow Snowman
You’ll need:
- 2-3 Marshmallows
- Orange Jelly Beans
- Edible Decorative Eyes
- Pretzel Sticks
Stalk the marshmallows and use a pretzel stick to hold them together. Add pretzels legs, edible eyes, and jelly beans nose to finish the snowman.
Frozen 2 Slime Ideas for a Winter Birthday Party
Find a slime recipe make it white or blue by adding blue food coloring or by using blue craft glue (or use any colors that go along with the birthday theme. Add glitter to bring out that sparkle.
The kids and I did individual slime kits in Ziploc bags to help make slime making easier. Everything was measured according to amount of ingredients they needed to make it.
Frozen 2 Playdough
I picked this up as an extra activity not because I was looking for it but it was in my way while shopping. The kids don’t play with playdough as much now that they are at these ages but they do occasionally.
Birthday Gift Ideas for an 8 Year Old Girl
It’s so fun to see the excitement on kids faces as they open each present. We loved picking out some things we knew our girl would love (some of them were from a list she made, and others of our own choosing).
Frozen 2 Lego Set
Love that she appreciated every gift. She and her siblings built this Frozen 2 Lego set and guess what? She still has it up and built and use it all the time for play.
After everything was said and done, she also enjoyed playing with this My Generation Horse. It’s made for an 18″ doll and since our kids have so many dolls and this one loves ponies, we decided that she would love this horse.
I hope these post on Frozen 2 and Winter Birthday Party Ideas for Kids gave you some ideas as to what to do for your little one’s Frozen 2 inspired birthday party (or winter party). It really doesn’t have to be all complicated. If you create a theme, stick to a few ideas that you know your kids may already love! That will ease the stress of trying to come up with new ideas and make your party easier.
