Christian Books for Moms

Moms juggle so many hats and usually provide so much for others. But sometimes we need to slow down and find enrichment for our own selves. There are times when we may feel overwhelmed, tired, fear, discouraged, anxiety, and all kinds of negative yet normal emotions. During these times, it’s easy to feel like we just need someone to “give us some encouragement”, someone to “hold our hands” and give us hope for this journey.

Thankfully, God has used some incredible women to do just that through their very own experiences. Some of which are penned through these five Christian books. I’ve read each one and they’ve encouraged me as a woman, a mom and have helped me to grow spiritually in Christ. Sometimes I even go back to a favorite quote, section or chapter from a few of them in times of need.

5 Christian Books to Encourage Moms

Pressing Pause by Karen Ehman & Ruth Schwenk – Short (less than 2 pages) daily read. The writers use examples and experiences from their lives as mothers to demonstrate God’s truth. I resonate with so many of these experiences. Some days I’ll open this book and it leads me to the very thing I’m experiencing. I’m actually still reading through this one since I don’t read it daily.

Calm My Anxious Heart by Linda Dillow – Linda uses stories from her life and from the life of others (missionaries, friends, etc.) to encourage women to be content in the place where God has them.

Overcoming Fear, Worry, and Anxiety by Elyse Fitzpatrick/Joel Clarkson – Elyse talks about how God is in control of our lives and uses scripture to help us find solutions for our anxiety.

God hears Her by a group of ladies – “God Hears Her” is one of my newest reads. I’m actually still in the process of reading it. This little book is meant for daily devotions for women reminding us that God hears us. The authors use Biblical examples of women such as Hannah, who prayed in her heart and God heard her. Each thought is just one page since it’s meant to be a daily devotions.

Gracelaced by Ruth Chou Simons – The book is divided into sections from Winter through Spring and uses Scripture to encourage moms and women (in general) through different seasons of life. Each thought is a very short read. Ruth uses many examples and experiences from her own life as a mom and shares how God’s truth has carried her through each one. As an artist, the book is illustrated with the writers very own beautiful & colorful drawings.

Side Note: I met Ruth and her husband, Troy, when she came to speak at one of our Women’s Christmas event at church. She is so sweet and very funny, too. Her speech was very enlightening and she’s just the sweetest person.

Bonus

Prayer Journal – As a bonus, I included this prayer journal. I love writing things down. It’s good to have a journal that you can keep track of what you read, what you learned from reading or just to simply write down prayer requests and things you are thankful for. I have not personally use this journal but from the reviews and from the photos I looked through, it seems to be a good one.
