The Story of the Dash Mini Pumpkin Waffle Maker

Who remembers a few years ago when the Dash Mini Pumpkin Waffle Makers were a huge hit among Insta moms of littles? You saw the cute pumpkin-shaped waffles floating around Instagram like nobody’s business and boy did everybody want one. I’ve always wanted a Mini Dash waffle maker – for no other reason than that it made cute waffles in the Fall. Target was the place to grab them for less than $10. But as quickly as Fall came, so did they quickly disappear from Target.

About 2 years ago, as soon as late August/early September hit, guess what this mom did? Yep, you guessed it. I ventured out to Target and got one. One didn’t seem enough. And what if said one didn’t work and now they went out of stock? Oh how my wanna-make world would be so crushed! Ha! I though of getting two just in case and they did look so cute. two just made sense. I stuck to the one – because moms, I didn’t want to be greedy. and I wanted to save some one you! And of course, I had to flash it on Instagram too:)

Now I own several little Dash Mini Waffles Makers, including my new additions from Home Goods this year – the Spiderweb and the Skeleton! I grabbed them as soon as I spotted them in Home Goods at the end of August, I believe it was. So much fun!

Making Cute Fall-Shaped Waffles for Your Kiddos

The Dash minis deliver cute waffles. Note that one side will look like a pancake and the other the waffle prints. But they are too cute. I only have one kiddo who will eat a Pumpkin Waffle. Last year, I froze extras to re-heat when needed. Now this year, not much has been made or eaten. But I do have a bunch in the fridge for when we’re ready.

How to Make Homemade Pumpkin WAFFLES

INGREDIENTS:

  • 2 cups flour (I used 1 & 1/2 all-purpose & 1/2whole wheat)
  • 1 TBSP baking powder
  • 2 tsp Pumpkin Spice Mix
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1-1/4 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup butter melted
  • 1/2 Cup Pumpkin Puree
  • 2 eggs (brown or white)
  • 1 TBSP honey or agave nectar
  • Waffle Iron (I used the Dash Mini Pumpkin Waffle Maker but use any Waffle maker you desire)

DIRECTIONS:

  • Heat waffle maker until hot and ready.
  • Combine the dry ingredients in bowl. Set aside.
  • In another bowl, mix the wet ingredients together.
  • Mix in dry ingredients to the wet ingredients. Do not overmix.
  • Spray waffle maker with cooking spray.
  • Cook waffles on hot griddle until done.
  • Place them on a tray and cover to keep warm while you make the rest.
  • Serve warm with toppings of choice.

Note: These waffles are freezable. Place individual waffles between parchment paper, wrap well, then place them in a covered freezer bowl or Ziplock freezer bag. When ready to use, toast in a toaster or place them on a baking sheet and heat in a 400 degree oven about 6-7 minutes or until warm and crisp.
