Jumbo Braids are easy to do and are a fun option for when you’re short on time to doing your kids hair.
Jumbo Braids for Kids
These are two of the Jumbo braids sometimes were the easiest thing I could get to. Most times, these lasted about a week, sometimes 2 (with some fizz) but still just about good enough.
The girls have very thick hair. Braiding their hair makes for less combing and hair pulling. While I could simply braid their natural hair, I sometimes use extensions to help with added volume, length, and durability.
Jumbo Braids for Kids
Most times I would braid their hair after a fresh wash on the weekends, Saturday or Sunday evening. This helped with a new fresh look for the new school week or for church on Sundays.
These Jumbo braids styles did not take long to do. It’s usually about an hour to do both girls hair. The longest part is coming & brushing through their think hair while trying to do minimal hair pulling.
How I Do Jumbo Braids Extensions
- First decide on the style
- Scan the head to estimate how many jumbo braids will fit equally
- Begin parting the hair in the direction of the first braid
- Get a portioned out piece of extension
- Weave in that piece through the hair
- Add a rubber band to the end to keep the hair from loosing, if needed
- Part the second piece of hair. Repeat braiding steps
- Check for extra fizziness or loose ends. Use a scissor to trim off wild ends.
- If the ends of the braids don’t need reinforcements from loosing out, then the hair is done.
- If it does need reinforcements, add that in, I used beads.
