Thanks for Sharing!

A Summer Candy Jar or Candy Salad Mix is such a fun treat for the kids to snack on during the summer. This post contains affiliate links for your convenience.

Summer Candy Salad Mix in a Jar

My kids enjoy these Candy Salad Mixes yet I know they aren’t always the best things to keep snacking on. So why make them? I don’t know –  because they look like fun? Yep, that’s my answer. I do not expect the kids to eat these all in 2 days but somehow, between the kids (and dad, lol) they seem to disappear quickly. While I myself do not eat much of any of it, I enjoy mixing the candy. I love seeing the blend of colors for the different seasons.

The first time I made one, everyone was so excited. The kids were eating the candy and dad dove right in when he got home from work. I’ve then since made a Valentine, Fall, Halloween, and a couple Summer Candy Jars. So here’s one I made this summer.

I used these Candies except the Rainbow Candy. I thought of cutting them into smaller pieces to include but then I decided to opt out. That was a new find at Walmart. I thought I could use it for something. I used it recently in our Ice-Cream Social. I didn’t plan to do a blog’s post on this one but you can see other ones we’ve done, Summertime Ice Cream Social.

Summer Candy Jar

For this Summer Candy Jar, I mixed Six different types of Candy. I basically chose the kids’ favorites:

  • Sour Patch Kids!
  • Trolls Crawlers
  • Gummy Bears
  • Air Head Bites
  • Skittles
  • Nerds Clusters (OK, well this one is kinda new and not sure if it’s a favorite but it mixes well)

What to do:

Dump everything in a giant bowl. Mix with a spoon. Pour into a glass storage jar or other food storage jar or container with a cover. I like the glass storage where the kids can see the candy. It also looks pretty sitting out. As for freshness, I think the candy stays fresh in these jars but my kids claimed that Cereals do not keep fresh for long in them. But these Anchor Hockings Storage Jars are my absolute favorite.
