Cozy Winter Home

After taking down the holiday decor, I decided to add a few touches of winter around our home, mainly the mantle and a little table in the living room. Nothing much or extravagant but I think it makes the house feel warm and cozy during the winter. Some greenery were left in the dining room and twinkle lights in the kitchen. The twinkle lights were up since November and it just really adds a touch of coziness in the kitchen on these winter days. The rest of our winter decor went up since early January but I didn’t plan to share it, especially since it was not anything much. Then I created a list of Winter activities for families to do at home and thought I’d share the decor, too, just to give you some more ideas.

Adding a small touch of winter to your home will bring out the warmth of the season. It doesn’t have to be much. As you can see, I didn’t do much but only added a few touches here and there to do the trick. The rest of the house is pretty much in regular condition. You can decorate a table top, the mantle, by adding a touch of greenery or lit battery operated candles and your home will instantly feel warm. Moreover, it will make your home feel a little less depressing if you get that feeling during the winter.

Winter Front Door Wreath

This lovely frosted flocked wreath was purchased from Walmart during Christmas and used over a manger scene in our living room. After Christmas, I tried it on the front door and really loved how it looked with snow on the front porch. Then I took it down and put back up the real one I had for Christmas (you’ll see where I’m using this one below). The real wreath still looked so good that I didn’t want to throw it away yet. It wasn’t brown and the pines were not falling off. I thought I could get some more uses out of it, especially since someone had graciously gifted it to us.

This real wreath had faux holly which gave it it’s Christmas look. I decided to remove that red and now we have this beautiful greenery that looks perfect for the winter.

Winter Console Table Decor

Here’s where I’m using that flocked wreath that was shown above. The living room was a constant re-arrange until I moved a couch back there that I had before. I’m sure how I want to quite keep it yet, but for now it looks bright and clean.

Console table from Wayfair was in the entryway of our previous home but doesn’t seem to work well in the entryway here. It gets way too cluttered and I also moved it to make room for a shoe cubical instead. I stored it in the basement but brought it back up during Christmas to add some decor. It works here in this corner for now.

Winter Fireplace & Mantle Decor

And for my favorite, what can I say? This winter fireplace and mantle gives me all the winter feels. It’s just so cozy especially with the fire lit. The entire family loves it and the kids loved to roast marshmallows when it’s lit. We did that a lot during the holidays:) Reading by the fire is another one of our favorites.

What do you think of the “As for me and my house wood decor?” I got it from Hobby Lobby for to put in the dining room but decided to try it here since I cannot find a correct mirror for the top of the mantle. I might just keep it here until I figure something out when the winter decor comes down. I kind of need something for the mantle to call it’s own.
