Our Recent Trip to Orlando, Florida – Summer Trip 2026

We took a trip to Orlando at the beginning of summer. Dad had a business convention that was convenient to bring families. At first, I wasn’t all for going but with further consideration, decided to go. The kids were off school after all and we had nothing else planned to do.

We stayed at the Sheraton Resort. The original plan was to stay at a Disney resort because I didn’t decide early, the rooms for 5 were booked (meaning, with enough beds and space).

The Sheraton was like apartments because they were so big. Our space had 2 bedrooms, 2 full baths (with one having a hot tub), a full kitchen, a hangout room with a porch.

The vicinity comes with 4 pools, basketball courts, mini-golf, a park (I only saw one but maybe there were others in the other sections). There was also a spot for grilling next to the park (parents grill and hangout, kids play). In addition, there’s a little gym There’s restaurants and a shop onsite for necessities and souvenirs.

If you’re considering a low-key vacation or have smaller children where you plan to hang out on site, this could work. However, if you have kids that like to be out and about, you may want to find something with more activities or include other outdoor activities in your planning. We did Seaworld, Fun Spot, Disney (Magic Kingdom), and a large Arcade. Now I understand the first three may be high in cost. Skip those and find other things to do. The Arcade may have been just as high by having to get game cards that will keep the kids entertained for a while.

All in all, it got us out to the house and we indeed took a little vacation despite it being early in the summer.
