Make your little animal loving one’s birthday come true with this easy Dinosaur theme birthday party.
Dinosaur Birthday Party for Our 4 Year Old Son
Our little 4 year old loves animals so much that when he turned 4, we decided to do his party with dinosaurs. We actually would have loved to do an overall animal theme but I found it difficult to find decor that were animals. The ones I came across were for tiny babies such as we did his room when he was a baby:) The dinosaur theme turned out wonderful and our son really had a fun time. It was on New Year’s eve last year and He still talks about that party even today!
The Decor
I found a pack of dinosaur party supplies at Walmart or Target. It came with a banner, hanging decor, and a large dinosaur wall decal. It had just what I needed without going overboard or spending too much on the decor. All I needed was one small corner to put everything.
I also added some animal stickers on the wall and placed a large balloon and a small dinosaur pinata next to the table where we put the food and drinks. The pinata was filled with small party favors and some candy (mostly non-edible favors though).
The Cake
The cake was ordered from Walmart. It was really a light, fluffy and delicious cake. Everyone at the party seemed to have enjoyed eating a piece of that tasty cake.
The Food
Creating a pizza and snack spread along with a cheeseboard worked out very well for the party. It was great to see everyone taking plates of food and talking about it too. The cheeseboard was a big hit!! Some of the images were actually taken when it was a bit dark which would explain why some look like daylight and others as night. The party started around 3 p.m and probably lasted about 2 hours but the early dark evenings made everything darker.
Activities and Games
The kids painted small canvases with animals as their sit down animals. There were some optional dinosaur coloring packs that were on the table for them as another option.
Games
Pin the tail on the donkey
Gifts
Our little one loved all of the gifts he received either from us or from his friends. He loved playing with the remote control cars they gave him (he got two). All the kids including the adults (men) took turns racing those cars. He also got a large wooden glow-in-the-dark dinosaur puzzle from one of the parents. They (we the adults) even put the puzzle together, turned off the lights, then waited to see it glow:)
Treat Bags
The treat bags was easy to create. We added a small animal (dinosaurs, giraffes, lions, etc.), small party favors and also had the kids put their animal paintings in them. In addition, the dinosaur coloring packs were theirs to take home if they didn’t color them at the party. Everything they got from the pinata (other favors or candy) were theirs, too.
The kids had such fun and us moms and dads had a great time chatting in between games and food and the other activities. Most importantly, our little birthday boy had a blast!
After Shots
The party was Friday evening but after church on Sunday, we took some after shots with the family when everything was cleaned up.
And because all the kids birthdays were different times during the holidays between Thanksgiving and New Years, we had them take a photo together holding a balloon of their different ages.
What do you think about this dinosaur party? Do you have a little one who loves animals? I’d love to know your thoughts in the comments!
