I Didn’t Plan to Decorate the Entire House
Today I’m sharing our holiday home tour with you. December is always such a busy month for us as I’m sure it’s for most. Yesterday was our wedding anniversary and we did a small family get-away. We also have birthdays end of November into December, too. Despite how busy it seems to get sometimes, I still love taking some time to decorate our home for the holidays. Although,I’ll let most of the photos do the talking but I’ll explain just a few.
I didn’t think I’d be able decorate the entire house since it’s new and some of our rooms are still being set up. I have curtains, bedding, and organizing to do in most spaces. Our living room area (in the front entrance) still needs some sitting and some kind of set-up. In fact, it’s being quite a huge struggle trying to figure out what fits best in some areas in this house. Many of our loved pieces of furniture are sitting in storage down in the basement. This house is set up differently than our previous homes so we don’t have to use some of our items. In any event, we wanted to do a housewarming “party” so I thought I would spruce up the house a little. I didn’t think I would have enough decor to go around but once I bought some trees, they seemed to do the trick of filling a lot of spots. I ended up adding touches all around the house including the porch and yard. And then I thought I would also share the tour on the blog since the house was already decorated (I was not planning to but it seemed to have worked out). Admittedly, I did feel a little insecure looking at all the pretty homes circling around the web this time of year. But then I thought, “Huh, well I have something to share too.” Now that I go back and look at my photos, I’m pretty happy with how things turned out! So what are you waiting for? Grab a cup of something (coffee, hot chocolate, tea) and come on in and take the tour!
Front Porch
One of my husband’s co-worker and his wife gifted us this beautiful live holiday wreath. I personally have not bought one but always loved their look. This is just so gorgeous!!
This is the other side of the porch. This wreath is a faux one I bought from Walmart a couple years ago. It has little specks of faux snow on it which makes me love it the more.
Glitter reindeer from Walmart, too. We’ve always wanted to add some to our holiday outdoor decor and found them at a low price Black Friday so we bought them. The kids really love these!! See them at nights below!

Back Downstairs & Into the Living Room
Our tree is filled with with different types of ornaments – regular, collected old and new, play-dough ornaments by the kids and a gifted one from a child I babysat before. I love the variety! See the close-up of them in the following photos.

Think a Hot Cocoa Sign would look great over this little area. Don’t you think? I keep forgetting to get one and I don’t have any little extra pieces of wood to create one. I had the spot somewhat set up like this around November with left over M&Ms and Candy Canes and what-not’s that I used for blog photo shoots.
Love the glow of the lights in the window. We’ve had colorful lights up since the beginning of November but then I knew I wanted to change them out when we got clear lights. They are just so pretty!
Dining Room
Love having a little spot to call a dining room. It’s such a central area to add a touch of seasonal decor in the windows such as banners and string lights. I recently realized it is also a great spot to decorate for birthdays. No moving things around to find a spot; just add a banner or two the window and some decor on the walls and balloons on the floor. Cake, crafts, everything done in one spot:)
Made an Advent Calendar for the kids. I figured it would not be easy to keep up with adding an activity for each day so I only added some. We left some days opened.
We love the glow of the lights here too. I dropped it low enough so it could be seen from the streets. It’s really so pretty in the dark evenings into the night.
The Family Room
The play area is divided since no one area or corner in this room or any room downstairs is large enough to put their toys, except for where we have the couch. I think though, that I recently found a solution to fit most of what they play with downstairs. I still have to keep others in bins and baskets but that’s how it it is even when we owned a playroom.

The Fireplace/Mantel/Wood Ceiling
The wood ceiling and fireplace mantel are such show stoppers in this room. We had wood ceiling growing up so I think this is a really nice feature that was added to the family room. Everyone loves having a real fireplace. It makes the room so nice and cozy when lit. Just looking at the photos makes me want to go cozy up next to it. I was not sure how I’d decorate that mantel but I think it turned out ok. I simply wrote “O Holy Night” on the chalkboard and our little girl drew some stars:)
Do you love holiday stockings? We’ve always had some but I was never really too thrilled with their looks. I didn’t want to spend too much on them. Then I finally decided to just go ahead and buy the styles and textures we really would love. It costed a little more than I wanted to spend but I’ve never been happier with our stocking choices. Weird, I know. The kids each chose one and I chose for hubby and I. They really do look great!!

Hope you enjoyed the tour, have a Happy Holidays and remember that in all we do, Jesus is reason for the season. Do you decorate for Christmas?
Or do you only put up a tree?
