Throw your family a popcorn party and a movie at home. It’s a fun family activity you can do on a Friday night, holiday evening or other time when everyone can just relax, eat, and enjoy a good show.
This was one of the fun-est things I’ve done for the kids at home. Everyone sat around and watched a couple Episodes of Mikey Mouse while they ate. You can tell the kids felt happy and relaxed in that moment. I have always made my kids after school snacks but have struggled to do so recently. When they come home, they’re usually hungry and ready to eat something.
How to Throw a Popcorn Party at Home
I had put it off too long. The house never seemed clean enough and I just get busy. I was tired of keeping that coke away from drinking and tried to save the new boxes of popcorn that ended up being opened before then.
Host a Popcorn Party at Home
What I used:
- Popcorn – Homestyle, Kettle, Butter
- Candy – Skittles, Gummy Worms, Berry Mix (new)
- Coke
That’s basically it. I figured a little candy will add to the excitement and fun, sugary drink of course! My kids eat of popcorn so I had to elevate it in some ways. Nah, we didn’t go quite healthy but it was fun. However, while we were snacking, I did feel the need for a giant fruit bowl. Yes Ma’am, I did. No fruit on hand though since we’d used up most we had that school week. We had some watermelon that I my daughter and I had eaten earlier, me at lunch and her, when she came from school.

Put on a movie or show the kids already love, relax and enjoy. Note: Not sure if any kid is actually watching TV shows these days but mine watched a funny Mickey Mouse cartoon thing that their dad watches with them sometime. It was good to see them sitting, actually focusing and watching (and not on their phones), and really enjoying the little act of eating popcorn and watching a show. They’ve commented several times how that was so much fun.
So anyways, it’s the little things that add the most joy sometimes! So glad I finally did this that I’d literally wanted to do fir years, but just haven’t taken the time.
